Here is a list of clubs in the Southern Tier and in Central New York that offer opportunities for a variety of outdoor activities.  If you'd like to suggest a club to be added to this page, contact Communications Director Ingrid Jordak.

Ski Clubs

Finger Lakes Ski Club

Promotes and plans year-round recreational sport activities and social events in the Finger Lakes area of New York State for adults and families. The focus is on winter weekend and week-long group trips with local, national and European destinations for skiers and non-skiers alike.

Onondaga Ski Club

A ski club for all seasons that not only offers ski trips, discounts on lift tickets but also many spring, summer and fall activities.

Hiking and Running Clubs

Triple Cities Hiking Club

Hiking in the greater Binghamton area and beyond since 1947.

Triple Cities Runners Club

Promotes and supports all avenues of running in our local area. Runners of all abilities are welcome whether they run competitively, run for fitness, are a seasoned veteran, or just beginning.

Southern Tier Running Club

Strives to unite individuals who share a common interest in running and/ or walking by providing opportunities for all ages and levels of ability while promoting an enjoyable running atmosphere.

Paddling Clubs

Ahwaga Canoe and Kayak Club

Organized in 1995, the club is comprised of paddlers from the Southern Tier of New York and northern PA.

Hiawatha Island Boat Club Club

The club is located at the Les Wagner Rowing Center in Owego, NY, and is the premier rowing facility in the Southern Tier. The 5,000 square ft. boathouse and dock system on the Susquehanna River affords rowers over three miles of calm and scenic waterway for training and racing. The club provides members with sweep and sculling boats, storage for member-owned boats, full lavatory and shower facilities, and indoor rowing equipment. The river affords members over 3 miles of protected water with a minimum of motorized craft.

The Adult Learn-to-Row class begins June 5. It’s structured slightly differently this year, offering only single-rower sculling (due to COVID-19 precautions), and class sizes are very limited. The boathouse is located on 17C just 1.5 miles from the Owego site.

Bicycling Clubs

Southern Tier Bicycle Club

Offers on-road recreational rides, off-road mountain biking, and multi-day tours.

Binghamton Mountain Bike Group

Binghamton based non-chartered mountain bike club. Posts weekly local rides and social gatherings plus annual trips and campouts.

Tioga Velo Cycling Club

A group of competitive and recreational cyclists located in Tioga and Broome Counties of the Southern Tier of New York. 

Ruud Racing Team

RUUD Racing, also known as Bingo-Velo, is a U.S. Cycling licensed racing team composed of members of the Tioga Velo Club in the Greater Binghamton, NY area. It is the intent of the team to promote the sport of cycling in a race setting, to promote team tactics and training programs, and to set an example of teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendship in the sport of cycling. The team is primarily focused on road racing, however, many members also participate in triathlons, cyclocross, and mountain biking

New York Bicycling Coalition

Advocates for pro-bicycle and pro-pedestrian policies and funding at all levels of government; educates New Yorkers about bicycle safety and the benefits of bicycling; provides technical assistance and support to advocates and government entities; and promotes bicycle tourism across the state.

Niagara Freewheelers Bicycle Touring Club

Schedules over 500 recreational road rides annually, with routes showcasing the beauty of the Niagara area and beyond. Volunteer members plan and lead rides, organize social events and special cycling excursions.

Finger Lakes Cycling Club

Organizes group rides, races and social events, such as picnics and slow rolls. Advocates for cyclists' rights and educates membership about safety and the responsibility to follow traffic laws. 

Onondaga Cycling Club

The largest cycling club in Central New York where you'll meet people who share your passion for cycling.

Mission In Motion Cycling Team

New York state's first women's non-profit cycling team dedicated to promote healthy living and cycling for breast cancer awareness. Our members compete in Road Racing, triathlon, duathlon, time trials, criterium, cyclocross and mountain bike races.
